Earlier this week, three of our Incubee Stars were named among the Top Crypto Start-Ups To Watch For In 2022 by TechRoundUK. We would like to take this time to congratulate xGStudios, BrickTrade, and NiftyFootball on this notable achievement as we look forward to their project launch.
In the up-coming week, we look forward to sharing more updates from other projects within in the Launchpool Labs Incubator programme with the Community.

Convex Saved, Hydra Shut Down, and Worldcoin Exposed
🥳 Convex Saved 🤩
Convex, the DeFi protocol worth a staggering 15 billion dollars, was saved from a rugpull-exploit in late 2021 by OpenZeppelin and an Anonymous team at Convex. The hack would have needed 3 multi-signature wallets (multisig) signers to be exploited, but this isn't outside the realm of possibility as seen with the Ronin hack from just a week ago.
Congrats to both the Openzepplin and Convex teams for finding and patching the bug and taking DeFi security seriously.
❌ Hydra Shut Down ❌
German authorities shut down the Hydra marketplace, an illegal marketplace known for daring stunts like advertising campaigns on clearnet sites and allegedly attacking its competitors with digital attacks.
The marketplace had over a million customers and 19,000 vendors at the time of its closure and a seizure of 543.3 BTC (25 million USD).
Along with this, OFAC has blacklisted Russian exchange Garantex to prevent money laundering and sanctions evasion.
🪙 Worldcoin Exposed 🔊
Worldcoin, the infamous eye-scanning cryptocurrency that is backed by YC alum Sam Altman and Andreessen Horowitz, is the subject of an exposé by Buzzfeed News, alleging that the project has run into numerous troubles and that it preys upon the poor.
The system has so far gathered almost half a million iris images in an attempt to have a “proof of personhood” system implemented in its crypto project. However, critics have pointed out that fraud is still rampant and that the device has a very high error rate.
What happens with this project is anyone’s guess.
